a wonderful, intimate celebrant wedding ceremony at elegant minterne house in dorset

I was the celebrant at Amy and Matt’s wedding at Minterne House, the ancestral home of the Churchill and Digby Families. Matt told me that he knew it was ‘the place’ as soon as he walked in, and it’s easy to see why. This intimate, frankly stunning family country house was the perfect venue for their ceremony and wedding party. I enjoyed being part of their team for the day so much, we had a lot of fun, and it was perfect.

Amy and Matt had poured so much of their personalities into the whole day. They absolutely love quizzes, so not only did I slip a crafty one into their ceremony, they got their own back on me by having the ceremony feature as one of the questions in their wedding reception quiz (spoiler, not only did I not win, I didn’t even get that question right, what a massive loser). They were married in Minterne’s Tapestry Room, which is covered in, you guessed it, tapestries and features a secret door, which Amy made full use of with her entrance with her amazing dad (top ranking wedding dad, btw).

It was so lovely standing for them and telling their beautiful story, talking about their hopes for their future and their commitments to each other, whilst they sat together taking it all in, in front of a gorgeous moon gate covered in wintery floral hues of dark pink and green. Amy is a very talented needleworker, and we honoured that with an ornate handfasting cord in colours that echo a temperature blanket she’s been making for their home. This was a ceremony where two people truly showed their connection to each other, it was relaxed and so full of gentle heart and soul, I loved it.

Afterwards, Amy was kind enough to say, “When we first met Eleanor we knew that she would be perfect for our wedding, throughout the planning she got in touch regularly and pulled together an amazing ceremony filled with personal touches. Whenever we had a question or needed help with something (ie. vows) Eleanor was on hand to guide us. We both highly recommend Eleanor!”

what i loved about this wedding

Getting the ceremony to exactly where Amy and Matt wanted it to be, in terms of flow and tone. They are such a great double-act, and I really wanted that to be reflected amongst the other elements. I can’t think of any other way to put it than I wanted everybody to see how wonderful they are together, because they are!
Minterne. Oh where to start? It’s just great. Emily the events manager is great. Meeting Lord Digby and learning all about the tapestries was truly great. It simply gives you the feeling that it’s seen some brilliant parties, and this one was no exception.
The ‘best hat’ competition. Everybody was invited to enter their hat. The winning hat was spectacular. My losing hat arrived via Evri 17 minutes AFTER I left for the wedding. Cheers for that, Evri.
Amy and Matt’s sweetheart dining table at the reception. I loved seeing them centre stage, being quietly together. And I loved being invited to stay for dinner and being made so welcome by Amy’s parents on their table (thank you again!)
The silk florals from Winterborne Hire and Styling and the cupcakes by Donna’s Floral Cakery were SO good, and the surprise gingerbread bride and groom from Amy to Matt were the sweetest!

Planning this ceremony and bringing together all the interwoven threads of Amy and Matt’s lives together for their ceremony was a huge privilege and a day I won’t forget. They were their amazing selves and did everything their way, and we all loved it. Thanks for choosing me to be your celebrant!
