How to turn me down, or say no to any other wedding vendor

We spoke, we messaged, we met, but I wasn’t the right celebrant for you? No problem. But, how do you say no to a wedding vendor?

I know that wedding planning and decision making is overwhelming. I’m not the only choice you’re having to make. But there’s a strong methodology for how to make it feel easier. Read on.

I know that it’s essential that you like your wedding celebrant. Other than your photographer, we are with you for the longest time, and we’re certainly emotionally connected to your love story. I also know that couples are, mostly, not just speaking to one celebrant, you are interviewing several. And it IS an interview, and you have all the rights to ask me as many difficult questions as you want, and to find out how I react to you both and anything you say to me. You need to be completely sure that you trust me, and can see me at the end of your aisle. And if there wasn’t a vibe when we spoke, what happens next?

You need to tell me it’s a no. And tell that caterer you weren’t sure about. And that MUA, even though you had a trial. And we will ALL understand.

We are all small business owners and we all will have put your wedding date in our spreadsheet, and we’re waiting to hear from you, unless we got major disconnect feelings from our interactions already. We completely get it, we’re not for everyone, and we want you to have the best experience on your wedding day, even if it’s not with us.

I’m in The Knot‘s guide to how to say no to a wedding vendor. It’s got email and message templates you can use to turn us down, and loads of helpful advice to give you confidence on how to do it. Sounds silly, but we’ll thank you for using it. The ones we wanted to work with are always the ones that are classy enough to tell us we weren’t the one.

Of course, if you are on the fence about a celebrant, especially about me, you could always read this guide to a celebrant wedding, or, take a look at some of my happy couples.
