How to pick WEDDING suppliers that match your vision AND VALUES

Somerset wedding celebrant

When it comes to how to pick wedding suppliers that match your vision and values, you need to:

Have a conversation with us, on a video call or in person, and see if you actually like us. Do we feel like somebody you could confide in? Are we someone that you would feel comfortable giving difficult feedback to as well as praise?
Tell us what you’re looking for – try writing down some notes on your values and what you want, and don’t want, or use a collection of pictures that you like (try Pinterest)
Give us a chance to respond to your request with some creative ideas that we think you’ll like (basically, set us a mini test if you have to)
Ask us difficult questions. Some favourites I’ve had are: “What did you do before you were a celebrant?” “What happens if you can’t do our wedding at the last minute?” and “What would you do if children were noisy in the ceremony?”

You’ll be talking to many of us quite a lot, either on email or WhatsApp, right up until the day you get married, so, I’d also look at how they communicate with you. Set your boundaries and your red lines. If you don’t like to be over-informed, say so. If you get frustrated by unread messages and ghosting, tell them before you book.

I have a page here of wedding suppliers that match my own vision and values, people I’ve worked with that I think are super talented and might be perfect for you. But there’s also many, many more I haven’t listed, which I would recommend. Ask me if you need more help with how to pick wedding suppliers!
